We drove from Milwaukee to look at a Fiat 500X after being told it was sold, then told it wasn’t. Right away, there were red flags. The car had a stain near the roof that the salesman brushed off as “just a stain.” Other Fiat owners told us it’s usually a sign of a leaky sunroof.
When we started the car, multiple warning lights came on for lamps/lights being out. The vehicle wasn’t even cleaned — there was garbage in the console — and we also found rust on the subwoofer. For a car that supposedly passed a “safety check,” these issues should have been caught before showing it to a customer.
We declined to buy the car and explained why. A few days later, the dealership called to negotiate on price, saying they were addressing the sunroof. But the problem wasn’t just the sunroof — it was the overall lack of care and transparency.
When I said this wasn’t the right dealership for me, I meant it. Buyers beware: if obvious issues are overlooked before you even drive it, imagine what else could be missed.
