Water pump?

I have a 5 year old Dodge Ram that I bought from them 2 years ago. It overheated the other day so I brought it in for repair. Was advised it’s the water pump and part/labor would be $1500 with 5 hours of service time. Two days later and no contact finally resulted in getting ahold of the service rep that it’s now $2700 and another 6 hours of labor because the coolant hoses needed replaced. A total of 11 hours of service and the total cost of repair being $2700 is excessive for this repair.
