Another bad experience
Scheduled oil change appointment (pre-paid Advantage Care) and confirmed I had one oil change left. Showed up to appointment and they said it had expired. Waited almost 2 weeks to get this appointment. Went ahead with the oil change service which usually includes tire rotation, however they charged me $20 for rotation when I have free rotation from my tire dealer. I paid for everything. Went to get my car, which was left UNLOCKED and not even backed into a spot. Job vacuum service or anything. I'll never bring my car for service there again.

Salesman
The salesman was not interested in helping me at all. When I first walked in he said he would get a key. I waited and waited. So I started walking around. Saw him talking to another man at a counter. One of the other salesmen asked me if I was being helped. I should said no and walked out. He never gave his name. All I know is he is African American. He was not willing to answer any of my questions. Told me repeatedly I could not afford any car on the lot. He stayed on his phone all the time. I was so mad by the time I left. All I know is that if this is how you treat your customers you need some training. It is a shame because I like my current Tucson and was looking for an upgrade. I will never be back. I bought my car at another dealer.

Horrible Service Experience
I had a horrible service experience with the Ken Garff Hyundai Southtowne Service Department. I brought my Hyundai Elantra in for routine oil change service, but my vehicle has been leaking oil ever since. When I investigated, I found that oil is dripping from both the oil filter and oil pan drain plug. I tried tightening the oil filter slightly by hand, but it didn't resolve the issue. The drain pan plug had some sort of blue sealant all over it, and I am not sure if this is their way of getting around replacing the crush washer during oil changes or if there is something bigger going on. I looked up the torque spec on the drain pan plug and set my torque wrench to the higher end of the range to tighten the plug some more in the hopes of stopping the leak. However, my torque wrench clicked immediately, indicating that the plug was already tightened to the top end of the spec. Out of curiosity, I set the wrench 10 lbs greater than spec, and the wrench clicked immediately, indicating that the certified Hyundai service center is not following factory guidelines.

I called the service center to schedule a warranty repair, but they said the soonest they could get me scheduled was almost a month out, which I find absurd since this is a service-related warranty issue. I indicated that I had already waited through their ridiculously long waiting period to get my vehicle in for service. The service center said they would escalate my concerns to the service manager and that he could hopefully get me in sooner. However, a week later, my car is still leaking oil from both locations, and I have received no word from the service manager.

This kind of treatment is preposterous, considering that their website touts Ken Garff Hyundai Southtowne’s Service Department as the best place to service your vehicle. They claim to strive to provide the greatest service experience possible for their customers and that their Service Center in Sandy, UT, has superior auto repair and service for all makes and models of vehicles. They go on to claim that their highly qualified technicians are there to provide exceptional service in a timely manner and are dedicated to maintaining top-tier customer service, for both new and pre-owned car buyers. They challenge you to allow their staff to demonstrate their commitment to excellence. I accepted their challenge but did not receive the level of care that they touted.

I suffer from back issues following an injury and surgery, and I try to avoid working under my vehicles due to this. However, when I can't get decent mechanical service and customer service from a certified dealer, I feel like I am left doing it myself to ensure that my vehicle is serviced correctly. Now, I have to purchase my own materials to service my vehicle correctly at home. This is going to be an expensive routine oil change, and I am sincerely frustrated

Bad communication
I'm very upset with how the service department has handled my car.
Called and made an appointment on 10/11/2022.

I was told they were going to place my car on the no appointment list so they could get to it faster (and still keep my original appointment), and it was very unlikely that I would have to wait until my appointment. I asked about a loaner car. The kid told me that wouldn't know until he looked at it and if the problem was covered by our warranty but he'd let me know by the 18th at the latest He said he always follows up with his clients. Never got the follow up. The only call I got from Ken Garff Hyundai Southetowne on the 17th was about my car was them asking if they could buy it.

I called on the 18th since they never called. I was told after being transferred 4 times that the service department was too busy to talk to me. They never called back I then had to follow up with them for an answer on Thursday the 20th.

I finally got an answer. My car has never been looked at. They didn't realize/remember that I had an appointment on Saturday and tried to tell me it would be another week because two cars were still ahead of me. I asked if my appointment had been cancelled. My service advisor informed me he wasn't going to be at work on Saturday. He said he would follow up Monday the 24th.

I called today, Saturday the 22nd to check in on my car. I was transferred to the service department before the receptionist told me that she would have them call me before the end of the day. I didn't receive a call. So I call back in and was told that the service department was closed. The receptionist then proceeded to say that she would have them give a call back but to give them until Tuesday since it takes 24 hours for the service department to follow up with their clients. I have no faith that they will fix my car.

So, another week of working from home for me. My dear husband will continue waking up at 5:00 a.m. to catch the bus and make it to work by 7:30. I don't know how much this is going to cost me or if it's covered by the warranty. Like as much as I've heard Ken garff's ads that they care about their clients, I don't think they do. This has been one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a mechanic.

Damaged several parts over a simple oil change
I Took my truck in to be serviced for just an oil change I asked them not to rotate the tires and they did anyway. I live in Centerville and drove all the way out to South town after they changedvmy oil I drove all the way back home there was oil everywhere so I drove back to South town and they looked at it and whoever changed the oil broke a bunch of parts which caused the oil to leak out I’m lucky that my engine didn’t blow on the way back I barely had any oil when I got there. They said they would hurry and fix it. They said they would get the parts ordered and fix it right away, just to wait. My fiancé and I waited there for over two hours, she’s pregnant and she was miserable she was starving. I was tired of waiting they didn’t care I tried getting a hold of the GM no phone call back!! I then tried to explain the situation the service advisor he didn’t care to hear it. I asked for at least a half tank of gas for the inconvenience to drive back-and-forth and he didn’t wanna hear it, he said I live in Salem so I have to drive back-and-forth too so I know how much gas is so you don’t need to tell me and we’re not gonna fill your tank up! I said I’m not asking you to fill my tank up I’m asking for a half a tank of gas for the inconvenience. They were very rude and I was very disappointed at the south town location I will not be taking my truck back there ! Very disappointed in the GM and the service advisor. All I asked for was a half a tank of gas for my inconvenience and just to get it done because my pregnant fiancé was miserable. This is what you get when you go to Southtown Ken Garff Hyundai to get an oil change.

Shame on the GM and service advisor!!!

Excellent service
Excellent service. I had taken my car to the dealership in response to a recall notice. The young man assisting me was very efficient and professional. I left my car and within 3 hours I received a call that my car was ready. Very easy! I was very impressed with the service I received.

Always love the serve at Ken Garff Hyundai
They were as cheap or cheaper than the other ten places I checked on brakes and wheel alignment and only did what I needed. They didn't try to talk me into other services.

EV Battery Recall
In December, after a rough start, Kyle took control of our case. He called me with updates when he said he would. In January he called to let me know that the replacement battery had been approved and last week called to let me know that the battery had arrived. We dropped the car off over the weekend (easier for us) and it was ready when he told me it would be.

This was our first dealings with Ken Garff as we recently moved here. It didn't start out very good, but they worked it out and I will definitely go back if needed.

The service here is always very good. For the first time ever after 5 years of getting my car serviced here it took over a month to get an appointment.
