Improper charge
My Hyundai was due for the regular service interval oil change of 7,500 per the owners manual. When I called to make the appointment, the service rep confirmed this as well. However after I had dropped the vehicle off and returned to work, the called and said it actually didn’t qualify but they would recommend the oil change. Upon calling hyundai customer service, they stated this oil change should have been covered by the dealership as a part of the complimentary maintenance. When I told the service advisor, Paul, about this, he was very rude and kept saying “we only cover one per year” but couldn’t provide proof of that. So he made me pay to get my car back.

Amazing place !
Had a appt for routine maintenance and an inspection sticker . Car was ready in less than hour half .The staff is the always so friendly . I can’t say enough great things about this place . Will also be leasing another car with them next year after mine is up . Anyone who knows me knows I’ve had a lot of cars and some really bad experiences. I’ve never had one at this place . Keep up the good work !

Newport Hyundai has been providing outstanding service and support for my 2019 Hyundai Kona since I transferred here 3 years ago and the only negative thing I can say is that they won’t be providing my service any longer as I leave RI behind.

Service Dept. in serious need of help
I’ve had decent luck with this dealership in the past but my previous and most recent interactions with the service department have left me with no other option than to find another dealership and, perhaps, brand of car altogether. The first mishap occurred when I brought my car in for the 60k service and all they accomplished was a complimentary oil change - system/user error apparently. They thought my car was my mothers car, because the different model years, owner name, color, and appointment didn’t give them anything to scratch their heads about.. I was most recently in for a 90k service and brake replacement. The appointment was scheduled 10 + days in advance and I gave them all day with the car because there was no rush for me to have it back, I was spending the day on the island regardless. After dropping the car off at 9am, I received a call around 1:45pm from service that they were waiting on a component for the brake replacement but wouldn’t have the service completed before end of day. Does the service department not keep stocked or order parts for the repairs they already have on the books or services that they clearly advertise for in the worlds smallest service lobby? Like most of us, the car is the only mode or transportation I brought with me that day so I would need a way to get home and to work the next day if they planned on keeping the car. The consultant said she’d see if they had a loaner available and let me know. After an hour, I had to call back because I needed to know if I had a way home that night or if I was hanging out with my parents indefinitely. They let me know they have a loaner available and that the car will be ready by 2pm the next day. I let them know that I work until 6pm and wouldn’t be able to get there in time. They said they’ll leave the car on the lot with the keys in the visor. I’m not super comfortable with this, as you can imagine no area is crime free and a car with the keys in it is beacon for mischief; I’m 100% sure the dealership doesn’t leave their cars on the lot with the keys inside. They tell me there’s really no other option, they need the loaner back before I can get back to the island on my next day off (fair enough, it’s a holiday weekend - I get it). But I don’t live or work close so this has put me in a situation I don’t really want to be in. I agree to picking up the car the next day but need to come in for the loaner, I let them know I’ll be right in. I arrive at the dealership where neither the service manager nor consultant approach me, let alone apologize for the inconvenience. They let me grab some items from my car and finish up the paperwork and as they’re having me sign the loaner agreement tell me no smoking, no pets. Common sense for a rental but I brought my dog to hang out with my parents for the day not expecting to have to take a loaner home and I have to transport her so I let them know that it’s non negotiable, she’s got to come home with me. No attitude there (the most compassion I got all day) but I felt a cleaning fee in my future. The next day I drove 40 minutes to the dealership after work, picked up the car, and drove 50 minutes back home. No apologies, not even a discount for the service which would have taken Midas 4 hours and cost $400 less. The long and short of it is that Hyundai of Newport lost a new car sale in 2024 because of their service department and Midas gained a loyal customer. I hope management takes a hard look at the professionalism, hospitality and product stock that the service department has or lacks. Perhaps the BMW dealership next door would be interested in a new customer.
