Steve Saporito was originally trained at Northrop University as an Airframe and Power Plant Mechanic for jet aircraft and graduated in 1982. There he studied electricity, hydraulics, pneumatics, physics, cleaning and corrosion control, mathematics, instrument systems, communications and navigation systems, air conditioning systems, Steve Saporito was originally trained at Northrop University as an Airframe and Power Plant Mechanic for jet aircraft and graduated in 1982. There he studied electricity, hydraulics, pneumatics, physics, cleaning and corrosion control, mathematics, instrument systems, communications and navigation systems, air conditioning systems, de-icing systems, fuel systems, fire protection systems, electrical systems, lubrication systems, ignition and starting systems, security systems, braking systems, airflow systems, cooling systems, exhaust systems, and other subjects with regard to aircraft repair and modifications. In 1983 he leased a local Unocal service station (Steve's Union Service) two blocks from his home. Steve’s background from Northrop University made him a meticulous mechanic and enabled him to grasp the most complex automobile technology easily.

In 1992 Unocal cancelled his lease for the service stations, and he set out to purchase the station from them. Over the next 5 years he was in legal negotiations with Unocal, Banks, and the City to resolve purchase price, cleanup responsibilities, financing, and zoning issues. After these issues were resolved, he began building the current facility.

The current Hilltop Automotive facility opened on February 15th, 1997. He started the business with two employees, himself and his mother working the front office the business has grown since then. In December he hired two more mechanics to handle the workload. In 1998, as business increased, he started hiring more mechanics to assist in handling the workload.

Today the business employs a staff of 7-12 including 3-5 ASE-certified mechanics. The shop services all makes, years, and models of automobiles including Austin Martin, Alpha Romeo, Lotus, Mercedes, Ferrari, Maserati, BMW, ,Porsche, Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, SSC, Salene, Scion, Smart, Lexus, Toyota, Infinity, Nissan, Jaguar, Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Land Rover, GM, Cadillac, Pontiac, Audi, Honda, Bentley, Acura, Volkswagen, Buick, Chevrolet , Chrysler, Dodge, Hyundai, Isuzu, Jeep, Kia, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Saab, Saturn, Subaru, Suzuki, Volvo, International, Hummer, Mini

2012 Durango like new again.
Steve is so knowledgeable and explains issues where anyone can understand. Nick is so friendly and personable. I encourage every customer to go out of their way to get to know such a fine young man. He loves to chat about everything and seems to enjoy showing customers step by step the repairs being performed on their cars as he performs the work. He explained every step of a transmission rebuild from beginning to end, and it wasn't even my car! Great guys and very thorough with running down issues and getting vehicles back on the road.

First Time at Hilltop Automotive
I brought my wife's low mileage (about 15,000 miles) 2016 Honda Fit in for basic maintenance and an inspection of items needing attention. Steve explained that there are certain items that need attention based on age instead of mileage. I was very satisfied with the service given.

Rebuilt my 1987 Fiero. Awesome job!
Rebuilt my 1987 Fiero. I paid two other local shops to do it and they did a lot of damage. The before and after pictures are amazing. If you want the job done right, take it to Steve at Hilltop. The only reason I didn’t give the shop a 10 is because it took so long for the repairs but parts may have been difficult to get. The car runs perfectly. Their work was worth the wait.

You are correct. In this industry as well as other's, we are still having supply chain issues. But more importantly is the quality of those replacement part. Which is marginal at best!! Let a lone the fact that we had to fabricate parts that we're not available anymore.

Never Disappointed with Hilltop Automotive.
I always take my car to Hilltop Automotive for regular maintenance servicing.
Never once have I been disappointed and I have gone to them for about 20 years. I highly recommend Hilltop Automotive for quality repair and professional attitude. I could get auto repair closer to my home, but for me, it is worth a few more miles to know that I am with a business that I trust!

Great Car Care
My 1993 SL went in for an annual service, and it was the first time at Hilltop. Steve gave it a thorough check and found some hidden items to address. Not all at once, we will schedule by importance & cost. Most things were small maintenance issues you expect on a 30 year old car. I respect the proactive approach instead of waiting to react to a future problem.

Spoke to Naydene's husband. He said the new struts for his hood are great. In the 18 years he has had his vehicle the hood has never stayed up, and it does now. He appreciates it so much. Steve does superb work and he would recommend them to anyone.
