The repair work was completed successfully, and I appreciate the effort that went into getting my vehicle back on the road. However, I believe there is room for improvement regarding communication and customer service.
After discussing the issue with my vehicle over the phone, I was quoted $1,500 for the starter replacement. Because I supplied my own part, the cost was reduced to $900, which I appreciated. A few days later, I was informed that the vehicle was ready for pickup, but I was also told that the total bill had increased to $1,200 due to additional work performed to reset certain codes.
My concern is not with the necessity of the work itself, but with the lack of communication prior to the additional charges being incurred. I believe customers should be notified of any recommended repairs, diagnostic procedures, or additional services and given the opportunity to approve those costs before the work is performed. Clear communication is especially important when unexpected expenses may significantly affect a customer’s budget.
When I raised this concern, I felt that my questions were met with frustration rather than a willingness to explain the charges and the work that had been completed. As a customer, I believe it is reasonable to expect transparency, professionalism, and open communication throughout the repair process.
Overall, the quality of the repair was satisfactory, but I would encourage the shop to improve its communication practices by obtaining customer authorization before performing additional billable work. Doing so would help build trust and create a better overall customer experience.
