I bought a 58k genesis g70 AWD sport and had to negotiate down from 5 over to msrp to real price! But the real tragedy was my trade in, which they really soaked me on; in fact, I believe they simply wanted to preserve their over msrp on new car. I received trade 4 offers on my 2022 vw Tiguan se r blackline with 2k miles that were all 3k above what they were giving me; they simply said “well go to X then if you want more!” I could feel the manger sneering as if saying “I got you now buddy. I know you want the car because there aren’t many around and you drive 1.5 hours to get here!
I didn’t really have a leg to stand on because I wanted the car, but that doesn’t mean you’re supposed to be unfair and basically steal $! I was so angry at the offer, pleading with him to understand my side and begging for more to satisfy the deal. He did not care at all how I felt or how his behavior of undercutting on a trade would damage my impression of the dealership.
He then listed my vehicle for 7k over what he gave me. The customer at genesis Manchester is simply looked at as the little guy who can be pushed around and treated with disrespect just because they CAN.
I wish I walked out and wanted to … that’s my regret. But I will never go there again and hope nobody else does.
