Genesis Auto Company and in particular Genesis of Kearny Mesa epitomizes the populace stereotype of a sleazy unethical auto company and dealership. If you are looking for an auto manufacturer and a dealership that passes the buck, passes the responsibility to the other party, then you are at the right dealership. If you like being lied to by an unethical auto dealership, then you are in the right place.
My wife had been looking at a new electric or hybrid vehicle for over two years and finally decided on the Genesis, so the salesperson, Brandon, really did not have to do much work to sell the vehicle. Brandon told us we would be getting a $500 gift card for recharging stations from Genesis in a week. When we did not receive this after several weeks, we questioned Brandon about when we were going to get it. He looked into it and told us Genesis had discontinued that promotion and that we would have to take it up with Genesis. Genesis told us we had to take it up with the dealer and so it went. Each one pushing it off to the other but nothing being resolve.
I finally asked to talk to the manager and was given to Sam Cena the sales manager. He told us he would look into this and get back to us within a week. Six days later he got back and told us that Genesis of Kearny Mesa was going to issue us a check for $500 that we would receive the next Monday to resolve this matter. That was over three weeks ago with no results after numerous phone conversations with Sam inquiring as to where the check was. The story was always the same. The check will be going out next Monday or the next few days. We still have never received what we were promised.
We purchased the vehicle over 4 (four) months ago and are still waiting for Genesis or Genesis of Kearny Mesa to fulfill their oral commitment to us. I would be extremely leery of being treated ethically by Genesis or Genesis of Kearny Mesa.
