Worst place to do business
On 6/22/24 I had issues with my car not picking up speed and shaking while driving a major freeway. The same day I had an issues starting the car. When it finally started the engine light came on with a notice on my screen. Dealership replaced fuel injector. Stating that was the problem. Again, on 7/27/24 the same issues happened. Another fuel injector replaced by dealship. The car is 2 and half years old, under 30,000 miles. 2 of my fuel injector have been replaced. I do not feel safe for other drivers and myself driving the freeway with the hyundai santa cruz. Due to the fuel injectors that randomly keeps giving out. They replace 1 at a time. I feel like hyundai is waiting for a big accident before they replaced all of them. There are multiple complaints that I have seen regarding this problem. They need to be investigated thoroughly, people's lives are in danger. I don't know much about vehicles, but if a car continues to stall, vibrate and stop at anytime it will cause an accident. On top of that, they are not working in good faith. KODI SPICER does not know the meaning of customer service. He told me that he can probably squeeze me in at the end of the day because I do not have an appointment. I asked him who do I need to talk to regarding a rental car four times before he finally gave me information. Still did not tell me where I can get reimbursement. When I finally went thru my paperworks, I found out that I had purchased a platinum protection plan for $2995.00. This dealership basically push you to buy something you cannot use. It is a SCAM.

Bought Used Car
I bought a used car, but not totally happy.
The sales staff was great! Serji, my sales guy, was great! Oprah, Ernie, Jeremy, all very helpful. Out of their control was a bad touch paint job! Poor prep and masking the car off, left a lot of overspray all over the body and windows of the car! I will take the car into a detail shop and deal with it!
So why did I buy the car then? It was the model, with the options I had been looking for, and with low mileage. And, the interior was in great condition... So, I both the damn thing! I'll another spend, probably another $300-$500, and clean the car up... It should serve me well for many years to come.
I suggest they find another painter to do touch up work... Pathetic!!

New car
Feb 28 I brought a car and in my 50 yrs of buying cars have yet to have the experience I had here. Hyundai sent me to sure critic to leave a review. Next day I received a email from the general manager stating they thrive for 5 and someone would contact me. Over a week and no reply I even sent him email to contact me. My option the strive for 5 really didn’t matter. If you chose this dealer do your homework and question everything

No Appointments Available
Have warranty coverage. I made an appointment for a Saturday which they cancelled. Wanted to book me 2 more weeks out on their fault. Come to find out Saturday service is for "express" only. Wasn't informed of this when I made my appointment. Now I'm trying to make an appointment on a non-Saturday. I tried online resulting in no appointments available in the foreseeable future. Hmmmm. Still in the process of trying to contact the service manager what he would like to do with my broken car??? Would've given 0 stars if it was available.

NOT Great at all!!!
Warning to the Consumer & to the Dealer Owner!!
First and last time that I stop at this dealer!!!
I was going to buy a car that I had already dealt with the seller;
Moises Alameda
When I get to the dealer he did NOT help me at all !!! He ignores me.
These people DO NOT have words!!! They don't care about anything, they just want your money and sell you what ever they want.
Very Bad reputation to the Dealer Group/Owner
Remember that you are going to buy what you want and NOT what they want!!!!
WARNING!! Before signing the contract pay attention to the final numbers because "IF NOT" with the interest they will double the price.
"IF" you are looking for a car at a better price it is better to drive a little more to Los Angeles and I assure you that you will save more than
$4,000 dollars like I just did!!

Great Service
I was lucky enough to have Jorge help me figured out what was going on with my car, it took about a week to figured it out. Hyundai was able to loan me a car for the entire process as well as Jorge keep updating me on my car everyday. I am very happy and satisfied with the service Hyundai of Escondido provided for me, even though I am a very picky customer. Expectations are beyond satisfied. :)

Took 8 months to get a refund
Short version:
They charge everyone $1,200+ for a completely unnecessary alarm that you can't have them take off.

I was mislead into thinking that my car didn't come with any warranty so I was bought the extended warranty. After I found out my car already came with a warranty I canceled (less than 3 days after buying). It took 8 MONTHS to get a refund after calling repeatedly the entire time and my refund was still over $160 short.

The finance manager Robert is horrible and only cares about his commission. He will do anything to rip you off.

Full Version:
I went in to buy a 2017 Hyundai Elantra GT last May. Alma the sales woman was very nice and helpful. The problems started when I met with Robert the finance manager to fill out the paperwork. The first problem was the added alarm that they charge over $1200 for. I told Robert I didn't need that but he said it was mandatory. I should've walked out then but I just wanted to buy a car because my old car was dying fast. So you add over $1200 to any price you see listed.

Then we came to the warranty. Normally I would never get the extended warranty but I asked Robert if my car came with a factory warranty or any other warranty and he said no. When I confronted him later about this he said that when he said no he meant a bumper to bumper warranty but he knew that's not what I was asking. I ended up getting the warranty because I saw in the paperwork that I could cancel it within 60 days and the money would get refunded to the credit union.

After researching the next day I found out my car had a power train warranty from Hyundai and also the 3rd party warranty company I bought had horrible reviews. I decided to cancel the warranty. I tried calling in to cancel but every time I was transferred around or sent to voicemail. I left voicemails but never heard back. I decided to drive there in person to cancel since I also read in the paper work that I would need to sign something. I drove there after work and explained that I wanted to cancel my extended warranty. They told me Robert was helping someone and that he wouldn't be able to talk to me for at least a couple hours. I told them I would wait and I sat down. After only 15 minutes I was led to Roberts office. He tried really hard to convince me not to cancel the warranty. At one point he even offered to drop the price from $3000 to $2000 which just proved to me how worthless it was. I insisted on canceling and he said he would cancel it for me. I asked if I needed to sign for anything and he said no. He said I didn't even need to drive down there to cancel.

I tried writing the rest of the story but exceeded the character limit so here's the rest shortened down.

I spent the next 8 months trying to get my refund from the dealership. Robert had lied about me not needing to sign anything and eventually had me sign a form. After I did that he sat on it for several months. In the meantime the dealership made contacting him or a manager extremely difficult. So I would leave countless voicemails and messages and almost never hear back. I even got proof of my cancellation in writing to make sure Robert didn't try to say I never canceled. Eventually it got to the point where I had to threaten to contact a lawyer just to get anything done. I spoke to several managers and they all said that they would make sure it was taken care of and to wait but after waiting nothing happened.

Finally after 8 months I called in and asked to speak to a manager again. The manager I got was Lee. I explained that I had canceled my warranty 8 months before and that if it wasn't fixed right away I would call a lawyer. He apologized and said the refund got lost in processing and he would have it overnighted. A few days later it finally showed in my account but it was about $160 short. I decided to just give up at that point.

Horrible dealer. They hide a 1300 security system in all the paperwork they have you sign...and then don't explain they are adding in a 2200 extended warranty. Do not shop here.

Poor Communication/ Buying experience
Purchased 2018 Used Kona on memorial day 5/27/19
1. Told vehicle was dealer use only - turns out was 1yr lease.
2. 2000$ as part of sale for custom wheels and tires - called dealership week later and parts not ordered since person responsible went on leave.
3. Dealership calls another week later and parts are in, scheduled 10:30a appointment for 6/24 dealership: "Don't worry will be a real quick service and you should be able to wait since we messed up on ordering your parts" - showed up at 10:30a appointment and service team had no idea what we were there for. They seemed busy and we had few things to do so thought we could help and we dropped off the vehicle with estimate of 2 hours given from 11a
4. 1:00p no word from dealership so we called for update - vehicle taken to different shop since their shop did not have "no touch" machine for putting on wheels and has been there most of the day. 4:00p vehicle is done and ready for pickup.

Overall very poor communication both within the dealership and with it's customers. Second used vehicle purchase within 5 years from this dealership. Never going back for another vehicle.

Hector needs customer service training...
I am sorry that I have to give Escondido Hyundai such a low rating, as most of the staff I have dealt with were friendly and helpful. However, this was my experience. The last time I brought my car in for the recommended service, a few months back, I had noticed that a dollar bill I had in my dash compartment was gone. No big deal, and just wrote it off. It was visible and my fault, I guess, for not taking it out or hiding it.

I just went back for the next service, and just had a feeling i should take pics of my console storage and the little storage under the radio on the dash. Well... when I was getting in my car to leave I opened my console, and it was completely different than the way I left it. I called the rep out to see,,, and he took pics of the one I took on my phone, and what it looked like now. I asked that he show it to his manager, Hector, and that I would appreciate a call about it. When I was driving home I went to plug in my phone to charge it, and behold, my cable was gone from the little storage under the radio. The only reason for someone to have gone into either storage was an intent to steal. I spoke to Hector, who claimed he did not see anything on the video, but then again said he could not view inside the car. He claimed my things must have shifted, which I can assure was impossible as to the way it was filled and the size of the items. It has NEVER shifted before. I wanted him to know, so that they would be aware that someone is stealing out of customers vehicles. I am not asking for anything or claiming anything stolen, other than my cord. I can no longer trust this dealership with my car. I should not have to worry that things will be gone through, and things stolen. Hector was not as apologetic as he should have been and instead claimed nothing happened. Please be aware of the things left in your car... they should not be going through areas that are not needed to access unless it has something to do with the service. An oil change does not warrant someone going into my storage areas. I have asked that they replace my phone cord and he said he would. I just hope they look into this more seriously for the protection of others. Someone went through my car... and someone took my cord. I want to add after a 2nd conversation, Hector basically called me a liar. I have better things to do with my time then to call and advise a company of something going wrong at his dealership. Had he addressed me properly, i would have felt satisfied... he should have apologized and simply said we will certainly look into it and try to make sure this never happens again, instead of saying it didnt happen. But he didnt.

Deceptive finance tactics at Escondido Hyundai
Be very wary of the finance people and their dishonest tactics. I purchased a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq plug-in on 11/29/2018 at Hyundai Escondidio. When I was in with the finance person (his first name is Gabe) to execute the sales agreement, I specifically stated that I did not want to purchase any optional services (be aware that all these add-ons are pre-populated on their screens so you have to make sure you go through each line item on the sales contract). Gabe assured me that he had removed all the optional charges and ran through the paperwork very quickly. He didn't give me a chance to review any of paperwork he asked me to sign and just shoved page after page in front of me. Given I specifically asked him to remove ALL the optional charges, I assumed that they were taken out. When I got home that evening, I took a closer look at the agreement and saw that the optional $795 charge for the Karr Security System was in the sales contract. I called the dealership the following morning (Friday, 11/30/2018) and was told by another guy in the finance department named Robert that Gabe was off that day, but that he would talk to the manager and get back to me. After a couple of hours, Robert returned my call and told me to come into the dealership on Monday 12/3/2018 and talk to Gabe, who would "take care of it". My attempts to reach Gabe on Monday went unanswered until I tracked down the salesperson that sold me car on her personal cell phone to get Gabe to return my calls. When I finally spoke to Gabe, he insisted the $795 was not optional and as it was a pre-installed dealer option that I had to take, and that because I signed the contract, it was not reversible. I assured him that was not the case and asked him to follow up with the manager, who Robert told me he had discussed the situation with on Friday. Gabe told me that he would follow up with the manager and get back to me later in the day. He never did. In the grand scheme of things, the $795 doesn't add much to the monthly payments, but it is a matter of integrity and honesty. This is my third Hyundai I have purchased and probably won't be my last, but I will NEVER give this dealership a dime of my business again.
