Shady practices

My girlfriend sold her car here. While signing the papers , they did not inform her that they will not be giving the check for the sale amount immediately. After the papers were signed, They told that it will be couple of days before the check is mailed. She is 6 months pregnant , went after couple of days to collect the check, and they made her wait for an hour before giving the check. Once deposited, bank returned the check and money has not been deposited to her account. Once again, she goes there , waits for 40 mins , to be told that they can not issue the check and will few days before they can issue another check! We asked to return the car which they refused to do so, did not take responsibility of check being returned, and again asked to back after few days!

If I am a customer, do they give out cars to customers without any payment for a week ??
