I brought my vehicle in because I had just had the alternator replaced there 3 months earlier and the car was doing the same thing as when the alternator went bad. I thought perhaps it was the alternator again and hoped it was under warranty. This time, however, it was the fuel pump. I was told it would be $940 to fix. It was so expensive because it was a labor intensive job and the gas tank had to be dropped. I did not get the car fixed with your facility and had a friend look at it for me. The first thing he noticed was the gas tank was located under the rear seat and thought perhaps there was an access point there. He looked up on the internet "how to replace a fuel pump in a 2001 Mercury Cougar". The response was "lift the rear seat....." It took 30 minutes to fix and the part was only $99. Your mechanics should not assume that every car is alike and should do some research before quoting someone an exuberant fee and telling me it is so difficult to change. I will not be returning to Discount Mike's and I will not be recommending anyone to take their vehicle there and I will warn people "buyer beware".
