Michael, as a small business owner, I believe you understand how impactful negative reviews can be for your business, brand, and reputation. Especially when the review is unwarranted and unfounded. This review is based more so on your misinterpretations of services rendered as we provided explicit evidence-pictures and descriptions, to support the repairs recommended by our shop, prior to your authorization. After our conversation the other day, you stated you did not intend for this review to be seen by the public, rather for it to go directly to management to address your dissatisfaction. Additionally, you stated you wanted to remove it, but did not have the time to figure out how. As the vast majority of our customer base is based off of reviews and word of mouth, it is imperative that we address this review as it sits on our profile.
We believe that we have addressed your complaints and provided evidence where our staff sent you pictures, diagrams, and had conversations regarding the findings/recommendations for services, prior to your approval for completion. You scheduled an appointment initially for a diagnostic for 4WD, long crank, and “obnoxious” noise in engine compartment, with a full vehicle inspection (this was explained in great detail as a service of 1 hour of labor, the areas to be addressed, and that supporting evidence would be sent upon completion). Prior to your appointment, there was a detailed conversation identifying specifics of the front-end leak you were concerned about. We sent diagrams to ensure the area of concern was understood by both parties. After your inspection, pictures and videos of your vehicle were sent to you, with detailed “tech findings” notes in the estimate for repairs.
Upon arrival, the oil level was low on the dipstick, we refilled to proper level, and found the thermostat housing bolt was stripped by previous shop in CA, we re-threaded this bolt at no cost to you. We completed a series of diagnostic testing/procedures, updating you along the way. When you left our facility initially on 1/23/2025 after replacing your failed AC drive belt tensioner and weathered/aged AC belt, drive belt tensioner and idler, you appeared happy with the repairs, thanking us for our service. The AC tensioner had failed, the drive belt tensioner had excessive play and we recommended replacing the idler pulley as an industry standard. Industry standard for these components is to replace the belt, tensioner, and idler pulleys at the same time as they have similar lifespans; replacing them at once, ensures optimal performance and avoids the need for a revisit if one of them fails; as you are always pressed for time.
When you returned on 1/24/2025 for the belt squeak, you were not visibly upset. When we apologized for the inconvenience, you stated, “no problem”. Parts were already here, and you were scheduled to come after those arrived, reducing the time you would have to wait. As a shop standard, we normally replace the belt when doing tensioners. However, yours visibly appeared in good condition and due to your strict budget, we attempted to save you money by reusing the belt. Unfortunately, it was not reusable without noise and had to be replaced.
We admit, it was inconvenient for you to have to return the next day to have the drive belt replaced. However, you worked on your laptop in our office while the belt was replaced, engaging in conversation with our staff, sharing stories about your travels, laughing, and smiling, again, appearing to be happy. At your departure, you appeared happy, thanking us for working with you and not charging you labor to change the drive belt and only charging our cost of the belt.
Over the last two years, we have serviced your vehicle twice. The first service was roughly $9800 which was for a remanufactured engine with installation. This recent service was the second time we have seen this vehicle for service/repair and both times, you have accused us of dishonest work and expressed your dissatisfaction. Which has been misleading as your demeanor, attitude, tone, and body language when you leave our shop is always positive and happy, expressing gratitude. We have given you multiple discounts for both of your services, working with you as much as we can to stay within your budget. Though, it seems that no matter what we do, how many discounts we give, how much labor we complete free of charge, you are never satisfied. We pride ourselves on honesty, integrity, and transparency, and we have shown you that we stand by our values and ethics at each of your appointments, consistently going above and beyond to meet your expectations. Despite the accusations that we damaged your headlights at your initial appointment, as you forgot that you had zip-tied them on when you changed your light bulbs prior to the vehicle arriving at our shop for the engine repair, we chose to schedule your vehicle for service this last week, giving you as a customer, a second chance for us to earn your loyalty as an honest shop. However, it does not appear that we will be able to meet those standards. We apologize that we did not initially replace the drive belt, we thought we were doing the right thing by saving you money, but that clearly was unappreciated. We believe at this time, it would be beneficial for us to part ways, as we cannot continue to be wrongfully accused, when we have supporting evidence that shows we are not at fault. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
