I tried these guys for first time and it went poorly. While the staff is friendly, courteous, and offer baked cookies, it all ends there. Their pricing is beyond unreasonable and I question the motives when doing inspections as I experienced a few weeks ago. Based on my experience, they will talk you into services and parts you may not need to pass inspection. For instance, they said I needed to replace brake pads and I went ahead with it. The price was just shy of $1K. Ok, fine. Unfortunate, but it happens sometimes. However, when I showed old brake pads to Munro down the street they said they would have passed and likely have another year left. I felt I was taken on that one!
It did not end there. My battery died today and my car was in just 10 days ago for the inspection so I figured they would at least help me out this time around. While I expected to pay for a new one and some labor, they threw me the "rack rates" like I was nobody. I asked for a courtesy discount since I was there 10 days ago and they balked and were snippy over the phone (a call that I recorded). They claimed they checked the battery during inspection. Maybe they did or did not. Either way, I was back, it was a huge burden, and the costs were astronomical.
Good news is Munro is 500 feet down the road. I decided to take the car to them and they were half the price (seriously!). Expensive lesson to learn, but that was my last time at Davicos. My two cents - do not let the baked cookies and text reminders fool you. It is their way of rationalizing their high rates.
