Bad experience / Rude Car salesman
Good afternoon, I'm Washington H T, I was at Hyundai in Danbury yesterday 03/15/2024 at 5:20 pm to see a 2018 Hyundai Tucson car that I saw online the night before, before buying a car or a house you have to see it. The salesman Jesus was busy and very friendly he took me with another salesman, a young African-American salesman who works there at Hyundai Danbury. I didn't see his tag name or I don't remember his name. Since I entered, he asked me for my ID and took photos of my ID. he ask me where I live, where I'm from, my phone number, my e-mail. He took photos of my ID with his phone, I didn't see any respect from him, if he had a bad day or he didn't want to take care of me, he would have to told me. just to see a car and I did not see any respect, I am sure he Profile me, it made me feel uncomfortable because maybe I was Latin or Hispanic, he asked me so much without explaining anything. I have bought cars and my house and never before in my life see vendors asked me so much lot of questions about my life. After he was asking me for my email, I asked him for the third time why he took photos of my ID, which he replied that he wanted to know "WHO I AM". After that, I didn't see the car. I really felt so bad and I left without wanting to see the car. I told him to forget everything, I left your place and outside in the parking lot my family was waiting for my wife and children and I told them what happened, and then another salesman came out from your building and took photos of my car or maybe the car next to it, I don't know. But my wife asked me why that Guy took photos of my car from the front and my license plates from the back. It wasn't a good day for me. I spoke with the salesman Jesus by phone and I returned the next day Saturday 03/16/2024 at 10 am to see the 2018 Tucson car Jesus told me that on Saturday I would speak with another salesman Jose who was excellent with all the information about the Hyundai Tucson 2018 the prices and never the Vendors Jesus and Jose never ask me for more information about me or never make me feel uncomfortable..... I don't remember the name of the young African American salesman who treated me and made me feel so bad. The reason for this review is that I hope that your Sellers will be more polite and make the customer or buyer feel welcome. I am sure that The young African American vendor or Car Seller who treated me harshly at Hyundai Danbury has my Photo Driver License "Id" in his personal phone and information about me, even my telephone number so who ever is answering all the complains is welcome to call me. Thanks

Refused to sell my husband a car
They refused to sell my husband a car. Ernesto was his "salesperson ". My husband saw the car he wanted- and called the dealership because we live in Ohio and they advertised that they do shipping. Ernesto wanted to do the whole deal via text message. Bizarre to say the least. Everything looked peachy until he tacked on an extra $2,600.00. My husband questioned the extra charges and was told that it was a "warranty ". No explanation as to what the warranty covered or even a mention of a warranty. When my husband offered to buy the car without said warranty he got ghosted. No reply to phone calls or text messages. My husband tried to call Ernesto to ask what this $2,600.00 "warranty " covered and some details about it and Ernesto said he would call back- nothing. Zip. How unprofessional can you get? If you want to buy a car with a place that has good communication and a drama free transaction look elsewhere.

Incompetence followed by greed
Incompetence at first, and later greed is what I experienced.

It took me four visits to finally get a test drive. The first three times they were 1) Too busy 2) Had no Santa Cruzes on the lot despite telling me over the phone they did 3) Had the wrong model despite swearing to me over the phone they had it ready.

I bought it at full MSRP and also paid their crazy $1300 document prep fee. When I got my title in the mail THEY HAD MISSPELLED MY NAME ON THE TITLE. That was two weeks ago and they now stopped responding.

Would go back again
I live about 79 miles from Danbury Hyundai but have nothing but good things to say about my experience.
The car I ended up purchasing was 2023 Santa Fe Calligraphy edition and its real nice.
The deal itself was very good and the trade in they offered was acceptable after a little negotiation.
My salesman Manny was really friendly and available to all my texts during this process. His follow ups with me after purchase have been helpful as he explained and answered all my questions about the car. He wouldn't have been able to show me everything on delivery day as this santafe is packed with lots of tech stuff and I couldn't process it all in a day.
John in finance was also great at what he does and made that closing go quickly and hey they already paid off my trade in 3 days. THANKS!!!
I know your far away by some standards but traveling to Danbury Hyundai is something I would do again in the future.

Scam bait & switch artists
Pulled a bait & switch scam on us. Contacted them to buy a Santa Cruz SEL AWD Crew Cab Pickup for $31,245, as listed on their website. They confirmed that they had it in stock, assured us they didn't need a deposit, they'd hold it for us. So we drove HOURS down to our credit union and we're about to leave to the dealership and suddenly NOPE, it SOLD. But they have the PREMIUM for +$10k MORE. Won't discus any deal via phone. We gotta drive another hour to the dealership to discuss. Gave up and drove hours home. Next day, I contact the dealership again - guess what? They HAVE the same make and model we wanted to buy, but now it's +$8k MORE than listed on the website. I've filed complaints with the CT State Attorney's General and Dealer Complaint Department.

Do NOT buy from these scam artists.

Outstanding Experience at Danbury Hyundai
Outstanding customer service! Handled purchase mainly via email & phone as I live on Long Island. Received best pricing from Danbury Hyundai! My salesman, Kevin Mohler, is a very likable no-nonsense, straight shooter. He was very honest & upfront. Pricing I received early on was what I paid. No hidden fees. Finance mgr was not pushy at all for extra services/warranties, etc. what a great experience at this dealership!!
