Overpriced and not trustworthy
DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE

This shop encourages shady practices by mechanics.

My Hyundai sputtered and stalled at a stoplight (it's an automatic, so not driver error sadly). It refused to start for a few more days after this so I got it towed. Being new to Charlotte I thought this place would be good to tow the car to due to it's great reviews and how close it was to where I lived. It is not and I have absolutely no idea how it has so many good reviews.

Sadly when they investigated my vehicle the following week (not concerned about how long it took, it was during the holidays so it is understandable that it took them a while to get to it) the car started. I guess because of this they decided to not investigate the issue further, note the car still has trouble starting and will likely break down again in a few more days which I assume is what they are hoping... They either did not find the issue out of laziness or chose not to disclose it in hopes my car would be back there for another $150 "Drivability Evaluation".

They charge $110 to change 2 air filters that cost $10-20 each and can be changed yourself in under 5 minutes.

They charge $247 for "BG Fuel System Service". This includes dumping $10-20 worth of fuel cleaner additives down into your fuel. This is so self explanatory it's easier to do than changing your cabin air filter.

They charge $78 to clean rear brakes. This includes spraying your brakes with a can of $5 brake cleaner.

The only thing they offered me that was priced fairly was the oil change at $66.

I rejected all of these services besides sadly the fuel system service and oil change. I was under the assumption that the fuel system service actually included a full service and not just a $20 cleaning solution dumped in with my fuel. I should've asked first which is my mistake. I'm writing this review in hopes other people do not make that mistake and maybe this scam of a business can start operating fairly with the consumer in mind.

Excellent
I am a retired automotive fixed operations manager and a transplant to Charlotte who was looking for an honest place to handle my automotive needs. This organization truly needs a signage that says “We are hear to see what we can do “For” you not to you because that is who they are.I can’t say enough good about this company.

Took too long, not fixed yet
I was involved with Compton's over three days for a radiator problem where I wasn't only getting partial Heat in the driver's compartment. I'm still only getting partial Heat and now the service advisor wants me to come back and spend $900 to do a flush for a total of $1,400 for a radiator problem. I do however thank you for the use of the loaner car.

Thank you for taking time to wright a review, we do take reviews very serious and we want to make sure all of our customers are happy, I did review the concern with the tech and service writer. We certainly do not want to have you spend any unnecessary money on repairs, the issue with your vehicle was a difficult one since your cooling system was so contaminated, therefore we wanted to start of with a thermostat and coolant flush, initially you declined the coolant flush and then brought the vehicle back next day after we replaced the thermostat, as far as time goes, we flushed out the coolant system 3 times separately to try and get all the sludge and contaminates out of the system and that took quite a bit of time, we tried very hard to keep you from having to replace the heater core, unfortunately the cooling system was so stopped up, we believe that is the next step. We do not like having a vehicle in multiple times for the same problem, however in your case we overall tried to save you money by spending more time on the vehicle than we charged and mostly due to unable to see inside the engine and see really how bad it was. As the owner, I would invite you and I do discuss options on how we can try to help. Please feel free to call me 704-357-0008

Trustworthy, professional service; no repair outside their ability; and a reasonable cost.
My pickup steering had a clunk when turning the steering wheel, going slow into or out of a parking space. Compton's diagnosed the problem as worn out control arm bushings and ball joints (original 1992 parts) the Friday morning I dropped it off. They provided a free ride to my office and I was able to pick up the truck after lunch while they searched for replacement parts. I drove my truck over the weekend and dropped it off Monday morning to let Compton's do the work. They provided another free ride to my office that morning. Later on Monday they stated they were nearly finished, but would like to keep it overnight and finish the job to their standards. They asked if I would need a rental car for the evening and next day, and I said yes, and a rental car was at my office door at 5 pm Monday night. I had use of the rental car until my truck was ready mid-day Tuesday, when I exchanged the rental car for my truck at Compton's. The repair bill seemed appropriate for rare parts and the labor to replace them, and the alignment to put it in spec. The cost of the rental car was free. The drop off to my office on Friday and Monday was free. The performance of the steering system was like a new vehicle. My old pickup continues to be a challenge as it enters the senior years and Compton's has come to be the only facility I trust to make any necessary repairs, in a professional manner, at a reasonable cost.
