Service department quoted several hundred dollars worth of maintenance service that was unfounded. I requested a 30k mile service of my F150 and reported no issues. A service technician had not layed eyes on my truck to that point. I blindly agreed to over $400 worth of service cost because I believed a Ford Dealer’s service department would follow Ford’s service schedule. Turns out the quoted “recommendations” for the 30k mile service involved several items (including a coolant flush & throttle body service) that were of the service department’s recommendation and not Ford’s. Again, this was prior to a service tech checking these inspection points. There was no disclosure, even after I inquired why the cost was much higher than expected. I was flatly told what the 30k mile service involved. The conversation went as far as my commenting that I was concerned I would void my factory warranty if I didn’t opt for the recommended work.
Full disclosure, unlike the service department; Of the $409.32 billed, $89.95 was legitimate and involved oil service and tire rotation. $319.37 in service my vehicle didn’t need, but I unfortunately agreed too, believing the quoted service was necessary.
$243.95 in FordPass point value were used and remaining balance of $165.37 was removed as a “customer satisfaction” effort from the service manager, after I complained.
Nearly 20 years of sales and service loyalty.
I won’t be returning.
