Poor business practice - once you're gone they don't care
My car was repaired by this Cornforth Campbell CARSTAR North October 2020. I went back May 2026 as the repair was failing badly. They refused to do anything about the issue as there was a 5 year warranty that expired 6 months earlier.
The issue was rust coming through on my 2020 Camry where they did the repair. I took it to another shop after they refused to do anything and confirmed that this shop most likely failed to apply the water/moisture protection coating to this area where a lot of body filler (Bondo) was applied, which is standard procedure.
So this is a failure of workmanship. I pointed out that obviously the rust was there before I showed up 6 months after the warranty (May 2026), but I had just seen it. I don't wash my car by hand in the winter, and my backdoors are rarely ever used, and the rust area is in the door jam, not obvious unless your looking.
The still refused to any responsibility. I understand warranties, but I genuinely that any fair minded, reasonable consideration would lead them to taking responsibility, instead of hiding behind a warranty for shoddy work.
