Generally good - when you finally get an appointment
Bought my Santa Fe there brand new. They were great with service until about a year ago. Now I have to wait 7 weeks to get a diagnostic on my vehicle. The engine light is on. I have a warranty.

I'm looking for a new vehicle but I want reliable service for it. Not Betten currently. They have to address the service staff issue or get better management.

They are terrible at communicating
I have always taken my car to them for oil changes, but when I had to take it in to be fixed, it was like they didn't care at all. You can call them, but it's very rare that anyone actually answers. You can leave a voicemail, but I never received a call back when I did so. They don't even call to let you know that your car is ready to pick up. The lack of communication is from them is infuriating. I won't be taking my car there again unless it is something that is covered under the warranty.

frequently disappointed
I own 2 Hyundai Santa Fe's and have owned another in the past. It has been my intention to replace our present vehicles with Hyundai Palisades in the near future but I'm reconsidering that decision based on my service experience at Betten Hyundai. My wife's car (2014) had an issue last week. It wouldn't start so we had it towed to Betten for repair. It was "diagnosed" as a failed alternator and dead battery. It took 2 days for them to repair and return the car to us. We then drove it to Detroit for the weekend and it had an unusual engine noise that we hadn't heard before. We returned the car to the dealership 2 days ago and they "diagnosed" a problem with the linkage. WHAT? How did this happen? So soon after it was serviced at the same place? She was told that the repair would take several days but they wouldn not charge for the labor (I should hope not)! She asked for a courtesy car while the repairs were performed and was told that one would be available the next day ( it wasn't), but she was told she was "first on the list." I called for an update today but the service tech was at lunch and unavailable for an update. When I inquired about the courtesy car the "service dept manager" was surprised at my request and questioned who would make such an offer because these vehicles were reserved for Hyundai warranty work only. Well, we weren't lying !!!!!! I then asked to speak to the general manager and was told that they didn't have one. i then requested a phone call from the general manager of all of the Betten-Baker dealerhips, only to be informed that they didn't have one of those either. I then requested a call from one of the owners and this request was denied as well! So much for customer satisfaction. I'll be voicing my displeasure with Hyundai corporate customer service. I will reconsider my decision to replace either of my cars with another Hyundai. My Auto Import is nearby and I have never been disappointed with their service (my children own Subaru's).

Warranty Denial
Betten Baker Hyundai in Muskegon, MI denied the claim on my car for a manufacturer's defect. Overall it was a very disappointing experience. As a result, I will never do business with them again, and I won't ever purchase another Hyundai again. They denied it because I didn't have 100% of all of my maintenance done at their shop. I had some oil changes done at other places...so they wouldn't do anything with my Warranty claim, and as a result, Hyundai wouldn't reimburse me for a repair that I had done at a certified independent mechanic.

Oil change and maintenance
The employees were very knowledgeable, kind and patient. They went out of their way to please me.
The waiting area was very clean and the seating was spacious so that we feel comfortable and not too close to other people.

This is the only place I will take my Hyundai
When I schedule to get my car in, it’s always within the next day or so.
They are always updating you on what’s going on with your car via texting and calls. They tell you the price up front and what other issues they may see, so you’re never questioning what the cost might be when it’s done. They are polite and professional. I always take my car to them, and always have will.
