Ginna,
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback to us. I had an opportunity
to speak with the technician as well as the service writer that helped you last
week to clarify the conditions. The hose identified is a pressure line in the
power steering system. When dealing with a pressurized system we place priority
on this repair due to the fact it can go from wet to the touch to losing fluid
very quickly. The last thing we want to have happen is that line completely let
go and leave you without the function of the power steering system. While this
may seem extreme we at Aspen Auto Clinic want you to be fully informed to not
only the current condition but also the potential of what can happen if it goes
ignored. Furthermore we do make it a priority to show you our findings during
the inspection so that you can also verify what we are identifying. In speaking
with the service writer we escorted you to your vehicle to see for yourself our
concern.
Regarding the cost and aftermarket part. At Aspen Auto Clinic we need to
maintain a warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles. At times the aftermarket option
can be applied if it meets a certain standard from the manufacture that will
support our warranty and allow us to be comfortable installing on you vehicle
with that in mind. In the case of this power steering line and your vehicle the
aftermarket option will not allow us to cover it for our warranty, therefore we
do not have that as an option through Aspen Auto Clinic. With those minimum
standards we employ it can at times carry an additional cost than that of our competitors
with smaller warranties and lower standards.
I hope this sheds some light on the concerns you mentioned.
Do know that all of us here at Aspen Auto Clinic strive to keep our customers
well informed. We also perform services to keep our customers on the road
longer and with as few problems as possible.
Sincerely,
Matt
