You brought in a 2010 VW Jetta with approximately 135,792 miles for an intermittent 2–1 downshift jerking issue. Prior to any work being performed, we explained and received approval for a $180 diagnostic inspection fee, which would be credited toward any repairs if you chose to proceed.
During our inspection and road testing, we identified multiple concerns, including:
Transmission clunking/jerking during 2–1 downshift and reverse
Front drive axle vibration
Cylinder #2 misfire code
MAP sensor fault
Additional stored fault codes
Low engine oil level
Based on these findings and our testing, we discussed the option of transmission replacement using a VW dealer-supplied unit, including the estimated cost and current backorder timeframe. We also explained that high-mileage 2010 VW Jetta commonly experience progressive transmission issues, particularly when warm.
