the first mistake i made was telling them i had received a quote from my dealership for recommended repairs and was seeking a second opinion. from there, the AZ auto attendants stopped listening and took full advantage of my ignorance.
the first service attendant automatically failed my inspection before actually looking at my car, based solely on the written recommendations of my dealership. i had to insist that he actually inspect my car. i’m certain he failed me based solely on the oversharing of information i provided as these were future recommendations, not repairs to be made urgently. i also found this attendant to be impatient and rude.
my second mistake was in moving forward with them. feeling stuck and needing my car within days, i asked them to complete the repairs that warranted my failed inspection. a second service attendant took my dealerships written recommendations and copied them word for word into his quote for repairs. being that the quote was less money than the dealership’s, i moved forward.
the second service attendant recommended i leave a deposit so that he could “order the parts to have my car done sooner”. when i asked for what was required for deposit, he replied, “whatever you want”. i left 1/3 of the total quote. my car was actually ready two days later than he said because the alleged parts he had ordered, hadn’t arrived on time.
four days later, i received a call from the second attendant asking me to please look at the dealership’s paperwork and let him know which ball joint was in need of repair. he had no clue but only remembered he had seen this on the paper he copied before inspection. i was floored at the lack competency and sole reliance on what another mechanic had suggested.
be very mindful working with this shop. perhaps most mechanics can be manipulative and take advantage of people/circumstance but it’s not a pleasant experience. and please don’t make my mistakes. do not provide them more information than necessary. have them do a full inspection and offer there opinion. i do not recommend providing them with another shop’s written recommendation or quote.
