2020 Camry Review
This is my second XLE Camry, our 4th Toyota overall. This is a hybrid and I do like the gas milage, but on the freeway at anything over 60 m.p.h. it has less zip than the 2007 V-6, which I feel is a better car (also purchased new at Michaels and still going strong - gave it to my daughter for her teenage son to drive). There seems to be less visibility from inside the car and a definite blind spot created by the head rest on the front passenger seat. This makes it impossible to have a full view of things (cars or pedestrians) coming from the passenger side. Rear window is virtually impossible to clean from the inside. There's very little interior storage space. No overhead compartment for glasses, which is a real inconvenience, especially to switch to sunglasses while driving, which is not unusual. We've had that on both Highlanders and on the 2007 Camry. There is a shallow compartment in front of the gear shift, with a sliding door, but it's so shallow it's of very little use. Also, unlike the 2007, there's no gauge showing miles or time covered when going on any trip, short or long (the total miles covered per trip flash on the screen after you shut off the engine, but this doesn't tell you as you're going, and it's on the screen for only about 5 seconds anyway, so if you forget to look, too bad). This car came with rubber floor mats instead of the carpet which was in the 2007 and gave a much nicer appearance. It would have been nice at least to have a choice. There's also no net in the trunk, which was very handy for holding things like grocery bags, LP gas cans, things you wouldn't want rolling all over inside the trunk. I realized this a week or so after purchasing as I hadn't used the trunk until then, and when I called to ask my salesman about, he was very curt and said it was an "extra." He seemed very unmotivated to help, apparently because the sale was already made. The better gas mileage is definitely a plus, but I was getting 30+ m.p.g. with the V-6, so not a huge difference. Overall, I'd rather still be driving my 14-year-old Camry XLE.
