Discount Type R

This is the best entry level sports car money can buy, for around 10-15k less than the Civic Type R you can have a car with the same potential and more features for less, with the best warranty that is not voided from track use. And if you put 4k in upgrade on it, it far surpasses a type R. In stock form its only .1 seconds behind a Type R on the track. Not only have I owned 2, I also tune these cars, we have customers winning podium positions versus M series cars with just a tune, brake pads and some tires. There is a reason that the Elantra N and Veloster N have beaten literally every other car in the TCR series for 6 years. When you buy an N you are also invited to many hyundai sponsored events, which is something NO OTHER MANUFACTURER DOES, Hyundai knows their enthusiast buyers and is cultivating a rich and supporting platform for them and this will keep people coming back for more, me included, I have purchased 2 Elantra Ns and an Ioniq 5 N.

Review

Good car, handles well and very fun to drive. Terrible gas mileage in the winter. Decent in the summer. Wish they added a heated steering wheel. No issues with reliability as of yet approaching 20k miles and over a year of ownership. Paint likes to chip near the front bumper. Bucket seats take a while to get comfortable if you're not used to them. I'm 6'1 and fit pretty well inside. Plenty of space for passenger leg room in the back. I've took mine up and down the east coast and it was awesome.

The car is amazing! I have the manual version and it works amazingly. I am coming from an n line and everything is way better than that car. The color is great, drive quality is fun and comfortable, and it sounds beautiful.

The Vehicle is pretty solid choice for the Money. After 1.5 years of owner ship and 17k miles its holding up pretty good. There are a few paint chips just from driving. So the paint feels thin. There are a few creeks and rattles but I don't expect this car to have the quality of a BMW, Lexus or even Genesis. The normal suspension is still too stiff for daily driving. I'm getting older and after some warranty work I was given a 2025 Elantra base trim for a loaner, and that base trim was so much softer. In N mode I love the stiffness and the way the steering weights up is fantastic. Would like it to be softer for everyday driving. Also the worst thing about this car is the Octane Learning. I've never put anything lower than 93 octane, just give us a tune to by pass this octane learning, I want that full power all the time without voiding the Warranty. For 37k this car is correctly priced in a world of everything being overpriced with "Market Adjustment". Also we should have wireless android auto

Love the car

Car is amazing. Octane learning really needs to go though. Give me an option to attest I’m going to use 93 octane every time and bypass the octane learning process.

Fun but slightly uncomfortable

The car is very fun, gets great gas mileage when you want, and has low maintenance costs. Downsides are that the brakes are not smooth, and do not stop the vehicle well. Also, the seats are uncomfortable and tight. They push my legs too far in together and crush my gonads. The suspension can be rough at times and feels like it bottoms out on rough pavement

Minor Complaints of the Elantra N

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra N is a beautiful car that I bought new in 2024. After a year and a half of ownership I’m happy with my purchase. The interior of the car is beautiful and has the physical buttons for controlling climate and radio, which are crucial in my opinion. The ability change the driving feel of the car at a press the button is great, though in recent months I’ve noticed that my saved configurations for what the “n” buttons on the left and right side of the steering wheel are no longer saved, restoring to the factory setting of just turning N mode on or returning to standard rather than rotating through the options. There is also my issue with the CarPlay, with the car only coming with wired CarPlay option, I would have expected a car in this price bracket to come with Wireless CarPlay. The exterior of the car is amazing looking as well and seems to be holding up to my standard driving conditions, with only minor dents and scratches in the paint from rocks. Overall I’ve found the car to fit my needs and desires quite well, being a reliable vehicle and a fun one.

Fun to drive but I have some issues that bother me

Elantra n is very very fun to drive and the car looks great. After having it awhile the interior feels a little cramped. The issues I have are with the build. My front bumper sags pretty bad and it feels loose. I can move the whole front bumper up and down. The hood alignment is pretty bad especially on the driver side. You can see the fender bolts the hood sits up so high and because the bumper sags I can see through the gap of the hood and see light through the bumper. Also the trunk sits up very high on the passenger side. The satin black paint has failed on all four wheels it just fading away and it doesn’t look good at all. The dealer said they would fix it but I’m still waiting since sept 10th and it now December. I think they want someone to come paint them in the parking lot which I’m not a big fan of

Great naming for buck

Great car great performance very fun to drive. Would have been a 5 star but it does have cheap bumper parts and clips that don’t hold and show gaps as they wear.

Great all around fun car that you can track without worries

I love my Elantra N. Majority of the time, it is a daycare mobile. It does a great job and kids love riding in it. There is enough excitement in it. I have even tracked the car and it is extremely capable. The car does not overheat and can keep going lap after lap. Only problem with 2024+ models is the quieter exhaust and less pops. It makes the car feel more boring and honestly I rather drive an Ioniq 5N, because it at least has fake pops and burbles. Also octane learning is very very annoying. Please get rid of it.

The definition of bang for your buck

If you can get past the shabby stealerships this car is great for the price point. Tech suite inside is really in a class of its own and performance has been clearly established in the segment.

Transmission / DCT issues

The car has had issues with shifting. The vehicle lost power on a major highway barely making it off to a safe location. I received a transmission errors and had a powertrain DTC code before. Both times I took it to the dealership. The DTC error code of Powertrain was just cleared and was sent on my way. For the transmission error, the dealer said the car had low transmission fluid. The car has just around 10k. I know there have been recall on past N's and other Hyundai lines. I hope they figure this out sooner than later.
