brand new broke twice, second time left stranded

I had the 2026 Ioniq 5 for 8 days before it failed to charge. It was in the shop 29 days. Hyundai Techline and a Hyundai Field Engineer could not figure it out. They replaced multiple parts with no result. They reseated a connection and cited it as the probable cause. There was no confidence that the vehicle was fixed, and implied that they got lucky. It is alarming that this many escalations yielded no proper solution. The dealership returned the car interior leather dirty and imprinted from whatever they placed on my middle console. They left corrosive it was on the second charge that the car's electrical system failed. It wouldn't drive. I was stranded at a charging station miles from home. Hyundai Roadside sent out a tow company and driver that had no idea what to do. Then they sent out a AAA driver that was excellent, which they should have done from the start. Now, it's in the shop for 34 days with no resolution. I am massively disappointed, as I spent a lot of money on the Limited and 2026 to ultimately receive a car that is non-functional. I am seeking a buyback and overall, the dealership and Hyundai Consumer Affairs have not been helpful. This particular car is unfit to drive, is unsafe and unreliable.

We said we didn’t want it the next day now stuck with it for 3 years

We had an awful leasing experience and wanted the dealer to take the car back the very next morning. They really ripped us off on our lease during a time when they were leasing for $299 a month. We pay over $600 for a car that is worth half that. Hyundai has been a nightmare for us. We will never deal with you again once this lease is done. Never. We will be selling moms Genesis back too.

Poor build quality, materials

Lots of headliner steaks and rattles, dash and door. Suspension good but not great, bit stiff and large bumps jarring. Hard plastic inside. Also bit noisy on hiway. Corners well and has very good range and rooms inside.

Fun car but beware of electric car short comings

The battery life is shorter in reality than practical except for mild climates and city driving. It’s hard to find supercharging stations, it takes a minimum of half hour to charge there and costs ~$30. Standard chargers will take hours. You likely will travel extra to find a supercharger; the car cannot complete a 100 mile trip in the cold mountains (Vail to Denver) despite saying 226 miles estimated range at 80% charge. My friend can do the same roundtrip in his Tesla.on one charge. Love the pickup and styling. Won’t buy again.

Quiet,roomy. Technology misses with updates on car ( not just maps)

Cons. Fair/poor FM reception. Inconsistent connection with iPhone to open doors. Wish it had automatic door lock when walking away But that won’t happen because on line updates can’t fix things like that.

This Care is amazing when it works

I love this car but, I had to invest ALOT of money to make sure I could keep up with maintenance. My tires popped after an incident involving snow. Because the car is low to the ground and I need to have my car fix as well. It took a month. Upon getting the car, the sales rep told me since the car is new, if I needed to use my tire warranty, I wouldn't have to wait weeks for the parts to come because they had them on stock. That did not happen. The repair team was nice but, I hated the experience when I knew I could've taken my car somewhere and gotten faster results. I also found out I couldn't even use the Warranty because my car was in an accident. Warranty only works if you pop the tire and nothing else happened. I also hate we don't get spare tires incase our tire pops. The fix a flat it very inconvenient and I would prefer a donut. Last but not least, I was told this car could only be fixed at the Hyundai repair shop since they had specialized equipment for this car. Come to find out, I could've gotten it taken care of ANYWHERE. Pray you never have to fix this car because if you do, you will be spending TONS of money and have a lot of headaches. Donta get any of the warranty's because the sales team usually misleads you. Also, take advantage of your local electricity utility "electric chargers' program" before buying an electric car. You can get a reimbursement and have your car ready for 1-day chargers.

Great vehicle that could be awesome with a few changes/updates

Review is based on the 2026 Limited variant: I moved into the Ioniq 5 from a Tesla Model 3 Performance. The Ioniq is significantly quieter (road and wind), smoother on the road, and has creature comfort features almost everyone would love: heated/ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, fully reclining driver seat with leg rest, super comfortable seats, heads-up display, fantastic audio, 360 camera, and lane keeping are only some of the highlights. You also have a clear view to the left and right when changing lanes, so you don't need to worry about super-obstructive B and C pillars. The huge glass sunroof with an infinitely adjustable sunshade is a nice touch! The rear seats recline (and move forward and backward) to a level that passengers would easily be able to take a nap (so long as you remove the rear cargo cover). The windows roll up and down very fast. The rear hatch door opens fairly quickly and stops with only a slight tug in case it gets too close to an obstacle. The multiple levels of regeneration will make driving in town and on the interstate a breeze, also keeping your efficiency high. Overall I highly recommend the Ioniq 5 Limited as an EV.

Ioniq 5 - Very nice, but needs further refinement

Glad I got it, and I like it a lot. However, it has several annoying issues. Overall, I can put up with them because of how good the rest of the car is.

Comfortable and Modern EV, but Needs Refinement

I currently drive both the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9, and overall they are great electric vehicles. However, the semi-autonomous driving feels unstable on slight curves, which could be improved. Also, the front light cover material scratches too easily. Despite these issues, I am generally satisfied with the IONIQ lineup

The best car I’ve ever owned

Pretty much everything about this car is amazing. My only complaint is the car will not auto-lock the doors when you walk away. If you walk up to the car it will auto-unlock, and if you then walk away without opening the doors it will auto-lock. But for whatever reason it will not auto-lock if you exit the vehicle.

Won't go back to gasoline

There is so much to love about this car! The safety features, comfort, and performance are all as good or better than our previous (high end, luxury brand) vehicle. I don't know why we had such "range anxiety" about moving to electric. We can always leave home with range, and apps do a great job of finding charging stations elsewhere in the rare cases where we want them. We just have a few little things that we find annoying. The windshield wipers don't do a good job of cleaning. In windy snowstorms, ice or snow builds up under the door handles and in the seams of the tailgate or door.
