Great car for daily shopping and visiting family

Purchased the car to reduce daily use cost while being able to handle traveling with grandkids and shopping. Drove more than 30K miles in two years. Other than tires, there have been no problems. We like the safety features, which make it a comfortable car to drive. Also, it is fun!

Could be so much more an incredible car

I gave it a 3 as I have a 2023 Ionic 5….no rear windshield wipers so when it rains can’t see out of the back. The way they have the back up camera lens for backing up, if rainy or sunny can’t see anything. As blurs from the raindrops or reflection from the sun. The side view mirrors have a shallow lip on top so when it rains can’t see out of the side view mirrors because the rain hits the side mirrors and can’t see. It’s scary to drive this car in the rain. Navigation is a nightmare. Can’t really see the routes it’s giving you and when you hit recommend…it takes you somewhere and many times not where you wanted to go. Plus the ridiculous way to update the navigation in the car, it is definitely futile. Why can’t it update near a Wi-Fi source from the car settings. The ventilation system is poorly designed so can’t really feel it unless very cold and full fan. If it’s not too hot and sunny great car to drive. I haven’t had any problem with the Matte finish. I really like the way car charges fully in 15 minutes.

2023 Ionic 5 Limited RWD review

Wait until they fix the ICCU issue to buy this car. Once that isn’t an issue, you’ll love this car like no ofter (maybe be very careful with interior materials)

Great car with a few issues

I like the car but was sad to learn the digital key didn’t work with the iPhone. There was supposed to be an nfc card but after two years I still don’t have one. That not great customer service.

Favorite in my fleet of Hyundai Vehicles

Bought the Ioniq 5 to help manage my 120 miles a day commute and it has become my favorite out of my 3 Hyundai models owned. It's easy on pocket and I get close the same thrilling performance as I get from my 2 Hyundai EQUUS. The HDA II is excellent. Overall it is a very reliable EV.

Very good car. Fun to drive. A few flaws.

Fun to drive but has a few flaws. It needs a rear window wiper. The controls on the steering wheel are difficult to read and are reversed from the better laid out controls on the new Tucson

Great car with potential but needs improvements

This car is my daily commuter (~76mi roundtrip, I have already 44500mi on it in about 2y and 8 month). I have used it once for a road trip to get "range anxiety" out of my system. While I generally like the styling, ride and handling, and got used to most features (even though some do have bugs), the main issue and reason for the lower rating is Hyundai's lackluster response and handling of the ICCU issue (luckily, it has not happened to me but I'm constantly "on the edge" that it could happen any day now), and the handling of the charge port over heating issue during L2 charging (deregulation of the charging current and slowly ramping back up if it stays below a certain temperature - a difficult task here in super-hot Arizona summers) . While the latest software patch is workable, it is still a hassle, and it is not what was advertised by Hyundai and one of the outstanding reasons people bought it for. On top of that, it doesn't help much if dealership advisors are not properly trained on EVs and handling them like ICE cars or they are "in the dark" when it comes to issues, symptoms, or parts availability to fix those issue. One other gripe is BlueLink: '22 and '23 model years have to buy packets once the trial period ends whereas '24 and up years get the BlueLink+ for life feature. Why not give that to '22 and '23 years as well, since we were early adaptors and helped debug BlueLink issues?

Went from great to just OK

Persistent rattle noise in back end. Service Dept doesn't care. EV range at purchase = 310, now down to max of about 260. How does that happen?? NACS charging adapter has not shown up yet, it's the beginning fo July !!!!!!!!!

2023 Ioniq 5 SEL Review

Outside of the problem with the ICCU panel that sidelined my car for 10 weeks, it’s been the best car I’ve ever owned. It was my first Hyundai and I will be staying in the Hyundai family with my next purchase.

Practical and fun car to drive. My first EV.

Very pleased with the car. Purchased it when it had 300 miles and was listed for $54k, but dealer took my offer of $35k because he was making way for the 2025 models.

Fun daily driver

Though I had a rough start with this vehicle due to early-adopter recalls and headaches, I can confidently say I would probably buy this again. The biggest headaches I've ran into have to do with national adoption of EV charging stations and finding them in a pinch but as I don't do much in the way of long-range road trips the vehicle is perfect for me.

Amazing vehicle, but plagued by major failures & awful dealer network.

The Ioniq 5 is the best-looking, best-driving vehicle I've ever owned. But my passion and excitement has soured by the non-stop major failures it has suffered - including the dreaded ICCU failure and 12v battery issues that have resulted in it being in the shop for several weeks. And these repairs have exposed me to the ignorant and apathetic dealerships that don't know anything about the car and don't care about how inconvenienced you are. Hyundai made major steps by creating one of the best-reviewed EVs on the market, but needs to step up and fix these major failures and guarantee complimentary repairs for the life of each vehicle or consumer confidence will continue to crater.

Two years in, I still love it!

Great car! I love camping in it (utility mode). Wish it had driver seat settings memory and a rear wiper. Also wish there was a way to repair flats without having to replace the tire.

Driving experience is great, but the car materials are cheap.

Love the car and the EV experience, but the car has some design and comfort issues that limit its full appeal. Materials are on the low-end side; too much plastic, and no rear window wiper. The service on the car (Danbury Hyundai) has been dismal and is a reason to look for a different product.
