Great ride when driving and working
If you’ve never had an electric vehicle before you might not be bothered by some of the things mentioned here. Let’s start with overall miles when fully charged. I think this vehicle is rated for approx 230 miles on a full charge but realistically you’ll hit 180-190 with regular highway driving (for a long distance trip). For some reason if you want to know how far you can go while doing this trip you’ll need to use the in-vehicle navigation and then move into a sub menu to see how much charge is left and then be able to see the estimated miles upon arrival. I could not find a way to show this front and center even when using the in vehicle navigation. I also prefer to use Apple car play over the in vehicle navigation so it further exacerbates the issue. I mention this mainly to highlight the fact that normally I don’t have range anxiety but on our first roadtrip with this car I really had to plan things out.
A “feature” I wish I could turn off is the car will always default back to level 3 of 4 of one pedal driving. When it goes into reverse it will also go to 3/4. Yes, you can use the paddles to get back to one pedal driving but why. It would also be incredible if Apple phones worked as a digital key but I’ve been able to adapt to that and bring my key when needed. Why is it that my 2012 Honda accord can distinguish between my key and my wife’s and change the seat settings but this vehicle can’t do that. So now I’m waiting for the car to turn on, waiting for the user selection to start, change to my profile, wait for the car seat to start to move to a different setting, then I can press my seat settings to get ready to drive away. Why?!?!
Other things that could be better: more frunk and under trunk storage space, better resolution side view cameras, placement of charger port (since it works with superchargers it should be on the passenger side if left in the front), and the car shouldn’t have micro movements when fully stopped using one pedal driving. This last item continues to persist even after trying to address two separate times for the standard maintenance appointments I made.
Since having the vehicle for a little over the year here are the issues we have had: the micro movements mentioned above when “stopped”, green screen due to camera failure when backing up or side view cameras on, some type of battery issue where the car said to pull over and turn off immediately (had to be towed to dealer and worked on for a week), rear seat seat belt broke where it could no longer retract, and an issue where when reversing it will sometimes think it is going to run into something so slams on the brakes surprising the driver and any occupants.
